If you’re going to insist on calling your product the original and if that product is root beer, you should probably serve it the way it was meant to be served. Such is the case with Hires root beer, a root beer first introduced at the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition in 1876 along with the Remington typewriter, Heinz ketchup and Alexander Graham Bell’s telephone.
Fortunately the Root Beer Gourmet has set out to try and change that, starting a petition to try and get the attention of Dr. Pepper Snapple, the company that owns the 136-year-old brand.
