News and Notes: Series on inner-city church awarded

A series about the birth and trials of a neighborhood church in inner-city Boston received the top prize over the weekend in the Religion Newswriters Association’s 2008 excellence in religion reporting in the mainstream media contest.

Michael Paulson, of The Boston Globe, penned the four-part series that ran in the paper and online in December 2007. “Ma Siss’s Place,” as the series was known, was dubbed by the panel of judges as a “memorable example of narrative journalism.”
