Over at Patrol Magazine, David Sessions tackles an issue that came up for me in a recent dinner conversation: the reaction from some factions to the passing of Proposition 8 in California that resembles the kind of fearmongering hatred we have grown accustomed to from the religious right.
So these activists want to see anyone who contributed to the the Yes on 8 campaign fired from their jobs and are boycotting a theater chain, hounding a Mormon, and blaming a gay-friendly film festival for screening movies in theaters owned by the company they’re mad at. Well, where have we heard of such childish behavior before? On the presumably bigotry-ridden religious right, of course, whose moral outrage is a constant subject of ridicule among the very people who are doing this McCarthyesque list-combing.
