The insane true story of “pizza bomber” Brian Wells has already inspired a comedy starring Jesse Eisenberg as a pizza delivery man forced into robbing a bank by a bomb strapped around him, but now the based-on-a-true-story version is in development.
According to Deadline, Mythology Entertainment and Anyway Entertainment have secured screen rights to an upcoming book on the disastrous failed Erie, Pa., bank robbery tentatively being called Collar Bomb Heist. The book, Pizza Bomber: The Untold Story of America’s Most Shocking Bank Robbery by former FBI Special Agent Gerald Clark and journo Ed Palattella, is due out in November.
If you aren’t familiar with the story – which very loosely inspired the comedy the grammar nerd in me cringes to even say, 30 Minutes Or Less – a good primer on the subject is the 2010 Wired article “The Incredible True Story of the Collar Bomb Heist.”
